Sankofa Experiences by BCDI NYS features
Sankofa Saturdays @ BRICK Rochester Academy, in Rochester, NY, a FREE Afrocentric community-based enrichment experience for children and families that celebrates the history, culture and creativity of the African diaspora.
At Sankofa Saturdays children learn through hands-on and skills building activities while they are centered in the rich culture and history of the African diaspora.
BRICK Rochester Academy's Kindergarten Readiness program will also be featured for our youngest participants to help ensure a successful school year!
Each month, children will engage in culturally relevant activities designed to build leadership and life skills, strengthen self-esteem, and boost academic skills. Rooted in Afrofuturism, children will (re)discover how knowledge is empowering, liberating, and self-affirming. Families and children are welcome regardless of race, color, ethnicity, or national origin. Sankofa Saturdays will equip children with a healthy worldview and the skills to help shape the world now and in the future.
